Optimize for search engines

Techniques

The following techniques will help improve your search ranking.

Use Keywords, but don’t abuse them. Don’t repeat words and use only words that relate to the current page, not a standard set for every page on the site. Keep the characters in the keywords tag to 874 or less.

Include a TITLE tag (but keep to 60 characters or less)

Tables. Tables in web pages were designed for tabular data, not layout of pages. Tables get read by screen readers from the top left cell, then right and down to the bottom right cell. So avoid using tables for layout and “linearize” all tables.
Use an ALT attribute for every image. Alternate text is crucial for accessibility by handicapped people, but is useful for everyone.
Use “clean” code. Check your pages with CSE HTML Validator lite
Delete or fix broken links
Avoid use of frames
Avoid use of a “splash page”
Avoid Flash on your home page
